How to travel by train from London to Nice

Travel documents
Make sure to bring a valid passport with you and complete your Advance Passenger Information (API) well in advance. Check UK-EU border requirements for travel to and from London.

Connecting in Paris between Gare du Nord and Gare de Lyon
When travelling to the south of France, you'll need to use public transport to travel between Paris Gare du Nord and Gare de Lyon when changing trains. The journey takes around 30 minutes. Here's what to do:
1. When you arrive at Paris Gare du Nord, buy a ticket at a ticket machine or a ticket desk. If you want to beat the queues, you can also buy a Metro-Train ticket ahead of your trip using the Île-de-France Mobilités (opens in a new tab) or Bonjour RATP app (opens in a new tab).
2. Follow signs to RER Line D and board a train towards Melun or Corbeil-Essonnes.
3. Get off the train at Gare de Lyon.
4. Follow signs for the TGV platforms.
5. Board your TGV train to your final destination - boarding starts around 20 minutes before departure and the doors close 2 minutes before.
Arriving at Nice-Ville
Your train will arrive at Nice-Ville train station, which is near the city centre of Nice. As there are no border checks upon arrival, you can simply hop off the train and leave the station. And to get to where you're going, you'll have easy access to the city's public transport.
Hiring a car
If you want to go even further, hire a car directly at the station from Hertz and enjoy a discount as a Eurostar customer.

Typically, the train journey between London and Nice takes 8hrs 58mins. When you view the available tickets, you will be able to see the length of the train journey for each departure time.
When you arrive at Lille Europe:
- Head up to the main station concourse and check the departures board. Platforms are normally shown 20 minutes before departure.
- Once you’ve found your platform, head back down to platform level.
- Allow enough time to hop onto your connecting TGV train – doors close 2 minutes before departure.
