Eurostar luggage allowance: size, weight and baggage rules

Discover everything you need to know about luggage policies on our trains, including dimensions, weight and additional services.

What is Eurostar's luggage allowance?

Eurostar's luggage allowance policy is one of the most generous in European rail travel, making it easy to bring everything you need without the usual airport faff. Whether you're heading to London, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam or beyond, travelling with Eurostar takes the hassle out of your journey.

Wondering how much luggage you can pack? From roomy suitcases to last-minute extras, here's everything you need to know about our luggage rules at Eurostar, including sizes, allowances and what you can bring on board.

How many bags can you take?

With a standard ticket, you can bring:

  • 2 x pieces of luggage.
  • 1 x small item of hand luggage (like a handbag or backpack).

Children can also bring 1 bag and 1 piece of hand luggage. Folded pushchairs and prams are welcome too – just make sure they're folded down and pop them in the luggage rack for the journey.

Size limits and dimensions

Size limits depend on your route. On routes to and from London, you can bring a bag up to a maximum length of 85cm, and on all other routes, 75cm.

Is there a weight limit?

Unlike airlines, there's no strict weight limit per bag. If you can carry it safely yourself, you're good to go.

What can you bring on Eurostar?

Packing for a city break, family getaway or longer escape? With Eurostar, it's refreshingly easy to bring what you need on board. Here's a quick guide to the items you're allowed to travel with.

Liquids and toiletries

Forget the tiny bottles and see-through bags – there are no strict liquid limits when you travel with Eurostar. You can pack all your favourite toiletries and travel essentials. We do have some alcohol restrictions, but you're more than welcome to bring bubbles for the journey!

Pushchairs and special items

Travelling with kids or babies? Pushchairs and prams are allowed free of charge – just make sure they're folded before you board and stored in the luggage rack.

You can also travel with items like musical instruments or sports equipment, depending on size and conditions, making train travel a great option for all kinds of trips.

Prohibited items

Like any form of transport, we do have some restrictions on Eurostar's luggage allowance. Certain items are not permitted for safety reasons, including the obvious ones – weapons, firearms, explosives, illegal drugs, sharp objects and knives.

Travelling with extra or oversized luggage

Bringing more than the basics? Whether it's an extra suitcase, a bike or another larger item, your options depend on where you're travelling.

On our London routes, excess baggage, bikes and oversized items must be booked in advance through our Registered Luggage Service, which is currently limited to selected trains between London and Paris, as well as London and Brussels, and each item must weigh 30kg or less. To check if this service is available on the trains you've booked, you can log into Manage your booking and click Add extra luggage.

For Eurostar's routes within Belgium, France, the Netherlands and Germany, you don't need to pre-book; simply turn up on the day, pay €30 per extra item, and you're good to go. There are no weight restrictions either, but you should be able to carry extra luggage safely.

Here's a quick look at your extra luggage options, including guide prices and size limits.
