5 New-Wave Pizzerias
Looking for a slice of Italy in Paris? From Daroco’s trendy decor to Da Graziella’s 20s vibe, pizzerias are the new ‘it’ restaurants. The best of these see-and-be-seen fashion-friendly carb joints are served up below.
Restaurant Daroco
6 rue Vivienne, 75002Watch yourself eat in the mirrored ceiling of this fashionista favourite, next to iconic covered shopping passage, Gallerie Vivienne.
How’s the pizza? As dressed-to-impress as the interior, in seasonal shades of green and red. Wander into back-bar Da Nico for an aperitivo.
Restaurant Da Graziella
43 rue des Petites Écuries, 75010The owner and wood-burning oven here are genuinely Neapolitan, as is the recipe for typical street snack, fried pizza.
Warning, it’s addictive! Graziella herself will feed you, if you ask nicely. The glorious tiles are from its former incarnation as an exotic-bird store.
Faggio
72 rue de Rochechouart, 75009With its minimal exposed brick and white-tile garb, Faggio doesn’t show off with décor.
Instead, its thin-crust pizzas and curated selection of bio wine speak for themselves. Takeaway is available – take yours to the foot of the Sacré-Cœur, just minutes away.
Biglove Caffè
30 rue Debelleyme, 75003The Big Mamma mini-chain is both achingly hip and as cheesily Italian as a ton of gorgonzola.
Its latest child, Biglove Caffè, is the group’s expansion into coffee and brunch territory. So why is it here? Because of its unique, authentic-tasting, gluten-free pizza.
Mio Posto
24 rue Keller, 75011Even on a grey day, Mio Posto’s colourful loft-like space will put you in a sunny mood.
If the décor doesn’t do it, its pizzas will. And if the pizzas don’t do it, Tuesday nights’ Italian aperitivo – a buffet of antipasti to soak up the perfectly crafted cocktails – definitely will.
