Travelling on connecting services

What you need to know if you're connecting with a TGV, Thalys or Deutsche Bahn train from Eurostar.

TGV or InterCity Services in France

  • Reservation is required on TGV services, this will be included in your Eurostar booking.
  • Book your TGV or InterCity journey from 90 days before your departure date.
  • First and Standard class carriages on board
  • Spacious comfortable seating,
  • Power points available in First Class seats
  • Onboard bar buffet

 

TGV Lyria services to Switzerland

  • No check-in time – just hop on your train when it arrives
  • First and second class carriages on board
  • Onboard bar buffet
  • In First class you’ll get a meal served at your seat and complimentary Swiss, French and International magazines. Power point at your seat on some services and a taxi booking service.
  • Tickets for Paris Métro available to buy from the bar buffet

Tips

  • Remember to validate (composter in French) your ticket using the yellow machines on platforms and station concourses – just slot your ticket in face up and wait until you hear a printing noise.
  • If you're using an e-ticket that you printed at home, you won't need to do anything before you board.
  • Use the composition des trains indicator on the platform to help you find your coach.

 

Thalys trains to the Netherlands, Cologne and Aachen

Important information:

  • If you’re travelling to the Netherlands or Germany, mandatory security checks are now taking place for Thalys trains leaving Brussels-Midi/Zuid station. Your ticket, ID and luggage will be checked before you’re able to go to the platform.
  • When you get to the station, head straight to the Thalys information desk. You’ll find it on the right after the Eurostar check-in area and the SNCB ticket office.
  • If you miss your connection, the SNCB ticket office team will be happy to help.
  • First and second class carriages on board - Comfort 1 and Comfort 2.
  • You can book your Thalys journey from 90 days before your departure date.
  • Comfortable, spacious and reclining seats
  • Power point at your seat.
  • Wi-fi, complimentary for Comfort 1 customers and Comfort 2 semi-flex ticket holders. Otherwise, wi-fi vouchers can be purchased in the onboard buffet car.
  • In Comfort 1 you’ll get drinks and lights snacks served at your seat, a selection of international newspapers, plus access to the NS Hispeed lounges in Amsterdam, Schiphol and Rotterdam before boarding. In Cologne, Comfort 1 customers can use the Thalys Lounge.
  • Onboard buffet where you can also buy tickets for onward transport connections.

 

Deutsche Bahn Trains to Germany

  • Your ticket will be valid on any Intercity Express (ICE), Intercity (IC), or Eurocity (EC) train.

Important information:

  • If you’re travelling to the Netherlands or Germany, mandatory security checks are now taking place for  ICE trains leaving Brussels-Midi/Zuid station. Your ticket, ID and luggage will be checked before you’re able to go to the platform.

Intercity Express (ICE) Services

  • In First Class, you’ll be served a meal and drinks at your seat. In Second Class, you’ll be served drinks and a snack.
  • Bar buffet
  • Wi-fi connectivity on some trains
  • Power point at your seat.

Eurocity (EC) and Intercity (IC) Services

  • Power point at your seat.
  • Bar buffet on the train.

 

Railteam

TGV, Thalys and Deutsche Bahn, like Eurostar, are members of the Railteam alliance offering the Hop On The Next Available Train service, which you can use if you miss a connection because of a delay on your previous train.
