Booking your journey

You have to book an assistance dog place so your dog has space to lie down beside you. We allow four dogs on each train and you can choose to travel at almost any time. Unfortunately, you aren’t able travel on a train that arrives in the UK after the last train from the UK has departed.

Call us on +44 (0) 3432 186 186 and choose option four to book your tickets.

To confirm your booking, we’ll need your assistance dog’s training documentation. What we need will depend on whether your dog’s accredited or not.

If your dog has been trained by an accredited association, we’ll ask for the name of their member organisation and the accredited association. After a quick check, we’ll be able to confirm your booking.

Getting a pet passport

The British government requires all animals coming into the UK have a pet passport – even if they usually live in the UK. So, you’ll need to make sure you get one for your assistance dog. Or you’ll need an official third-country certificate for non-EU listed countries and territories.

What is a pet passport?
Your assistance dog’s pet passport will show details of their microchip or tattoo, as well as their vaccinations and treatments. We’ll check it at the station, before you travel. If you’re travelling from the UK, you must make sure that your assistance dog is fully compliant with the rules of the EU PET Travel Scheme before it leaves the UK. If you’re travelling from the Continent and you don’t pass the checks, your dog won’t be able to travel.

How do I get a pet passport?
To get a pet passport or find out more, you need to get in touch with the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).
