Althoff St James's Hotel and Club London

5 star hotel7-8 Park Place, London, SW1A 1LS, United Kingdom

Surrounded by all the priciest properties on the Monopoly board – Bond Street, Park Lane and Mayfair – it’s no wonder this gorgeously grand boutique hotel is the frequent haunt of the likes of Liza Minelli, Sean Connery, Elton John and Cher. Picture the very epitome of Mayfair elegance, with Murano glass chandeliers, sumptuous furnishings, luxe décor and the Queen’s preferred brand of bed to retreat to when the elegance is just too much.

The beautiful bedrooms here feature handmade silk wallpaper, luxury Hypnos beds, flat screen TVs, free Wi-Fi and an iPod dock. The stylish bathrooms are stocked with fluffy robes and toiletries, and some even have a steam room facility.

The hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant, Seven Park Place, is home to Chef William Drabble’s more innovative fine dining cuisine, and you’ll find more low-key gastro-pub dishes in William's Bar & Bistro. As for the hotel bar, you’ll need a cocktail or two just to get over the extraordinary silk and cashmere wall coverings and celebrity spots.
