Travel to Calais

Train tickets from £29 one way*

With its history as an important – and often-contested – centre of trade, Calais might surprise you with its historic and cultural sites, whether you’re just passing through or spending a bit more time in town.

Perhaps most striking is the Hôtel de Ville, with its ornate 74m-high clock tower that can be seen by ships at sea.

Nearby in Place d’Armes, the bustling market that sets up shop a couple of times a week is overlooked by the imposing Tour de Guet. Unfortunately it’s not open to the public, but if you fancy a climb, take on the lighthouse for superb views across the Channel.

Art-lovers will enjoy the paintings and lace of the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Calais, while those of a more dramatic persuasion will be wowed by the beautiful Calais theatre.

With Eurostar tickets from as little as £29 one way and direct trains from London or Kent , it’s easy to arrive by rail, rested and raring to go, right in the centre of town.
