Arriving at the station
Get to St Pancras International at our recommended arrival time to allow plenty of time to get through border controls and security. Once in the departure lounge, you'll find shops to buy refreshments for the journey as well as newspapers and magazines.
What’s on board?
You’ll find a travel class to suit every budget and style on the train from London to Amsterdam, as well as sockets at every seat and free wi-fi for all.
And if you feel a little peckish at any time during your journey, just make your way to Café Métropole, our onboard bar buffet. There, you’ll find drinks, snacks and meals for any time of day. If you’re travelling in Standard Premier or Business Premier, you’ll get a complimentary meal.
If you're travelling with children, remember that children under 16 cannot travel unaccompanied on our direct route to the Netherlands.
Arriving in Amsterdam
When you arrive in Amsterdam, please be sure to keep your ticket handy for arrival. You’ll need to scan your ticket at the NS ticket gates to exit Amsterdam Centraal Station.
Looking for local information? You’ll find the Amsterdam Tourist Office outside the main entrance to the station in a traditional white wooden Dutch coffee house.
Amsterdam Centraal Station is extremely well connected to the rest of the city by the tram network and is within walking distance from most of the top neighbourhoods.
The final leg of your journey to your hotel will be just as simple as everything else on your London to Amsterdam trip. And, of course, arriving in Amsterdam is just the beginning.
Departing from Amsterdam Centraal
You can take a direct train back to London from Amsterdam Centraal in just 4 hours 09 minutes.
• Get to Amsterdam Centraal at our recommended arrival time to allow plenty of time to get through border controls and security.
• Find the Eurostar departures building at the end of platform 15b. Once there, you’ll need to show your ticket and pass through security before moving to a waiting area.
• To reach the departures building on platform 15b, you’ll need to scan your ticket at the earlier NS ticket gates.
Just so you know, some of our trains might need to stop at Brussels-Midi/Zuid for less than half an hour for border security reasons. This wait is scheduled into your journey time – so you won’t be late. You won’t be able to leave the train during the wait.
Returning on an indirect train
You can take a Thalys train from Amsterdam Centraal to Brussels-Midi/Zuid. Then, there's a quick change onto a direct Eurostar train from Brussels to St Pancras International.
Our booking system will find the best possible price for your combined Thalys and Eurostar ticket.
To change at Brussels, hop off the Thalys train, then head to the ground floor. You’ll find the Eurostar departure area under platforms 1 and 2.
Once you’re there, scan the barcode on your Eurostar ticket at the ticket gates, pass through security and passport control and you’re on your way again.
Please make sure to download your mobile ticket or print it before your journey. A service fee of €5 is charged for printing tickets in the ticket office in the Netherlands.
