Eurostar launches 10th daily Brussels service
6 Feb 2006
Follow in the footsteps of Sol Campbell as Eurostar launches a 10th daily weekday service between London and Brussels
- New service begins on Monday 13th February
Strong demand has led Eurostar, the high-speed passenger train service, to increase the number of services between London and Brussels to 10 every weekday from next Monday.
The extra service, in each direction, will provide an even better timetable for business travellers, as there will be one Eurostar every hour from Brussels between around 15.00 and 19.00, and then a later service at 20.25, enabling travellers to fit in extra meetings or join a Eurostar after a later connection from Holland or Germany.
The extra train leaving London will be a non-stop service at 15.40, and arriving Brussels Midi at 19.00. From Brussels, the extra service will leave at 14.56, stopping at Lille and Ashford, before arriving at London Waterloo at 16.23.
With 10 trains each weekday in each direction, Eurostar now has much better frequency than competitor airlines bmi and VLM. All Eurostar tickets also include free onward travel to any other station in Belgium.
England and Arsenal footballer Sol Campbell travelled by Eurostar as he "cleared his head" during his recent stay in Brussels.
1. Eurostar is the fast train service linking London, Ashford, Paris, Brussels, Lille, Avignon, Calais, Disneyland Resort Paris and the French Alps. 2. Eurostar and Eurotunnel are two entirely different companies with two different management teams. Eurostar is Eurotunnel's largest customer. 4. In 2007, Eurostar will switch to St. Pancras International. Journey times will fall further with London-Paris down to 2h 15m; London-Brussels 1h 51m and London-Lille just 1h20m.5.
