-- Eurostar achieves best ever punctuality performance-- 95.9% in September and 92.7% on time since start of disruption to air travel-- On-time performance helps travellers avoid airline delays
Eurostar, the high-speed passenger service between the UK, France and Belgium, has recorded the best ever punctuality figures in the company's history.During September, 95.9% of trains reached their destinations on time. There were eleven days last month when Eurostar recorded 100% punctuality, with every single train arriving at its destination on schedule.
Since 10th August, the date on which new baggage restrictions were introduced at UK airports, Eurostar has delivered 92.7% percent of its trains on time.
Simon Montague, Director of Communications, Eurostar, said:"We are delighted at the record punctuality that we have provided to the thousands of passengers who have switched to Eurostar from the airlines, in order to avoid worrying about airport hold-ups.
"We know that travellers put a high value on punctuality and we continue to deliver our customers to their destinations on time. We are seeing an extra 1,000 passengers per day travelling on Eurostar, as a result of the continuing disruption to air travel."These figures are a tribute to our staff who are working hard in the depots, at stations and on board trains to deliver a reliable fleet and a punctual service."
