The Van Gogh Museum
There is no shortage of museums in Amsterdam, in fact, there's an entire district of the city called the Museum Quarter, so you don't even have to travel very far to visit them all.
One of the most exciting museum both from an artistic and an architectural point of view is the Van Gogh Museum where you can see the largest collection in the world of his work and find out more about his life and his contemporaries.

There are, of course, plenty of his works on display, including The Bedroom, Sunflowers and The Potato Eaters, but you’ll also get some insight into Van Gogh's tormented world and follow his development as an artist.
The museum building itself is of architectural interest, designed by Gerrit Rietveld (of red and blue chair fame) in the 1960s. A new wing was later added, designed by Kisho Kurokawa, who also created the sketches more recently used for a stunning glass entrance hall.
This must-see museum provides an in-depth look into the life, art, ambitions and emotions of this thoroughly influential and remarkable artist in a modern, purpose-built space.
