Paris is in full bloom during spring and an ideal getaway for its stunning parks and gardens, boulangeries and museums. Grab a seat at one of Paris’s many cafés to people-watch or take a stroll in the Luxembourg Gardens, a fine spot for family-friendly activities or a picnic. If the weather takes a turn, go vintage shopping or pick up some souvenirs at major department stores Le Bon Marche and Galeries Lafayette.
If you love browsing food markets for delicious ingredients, there are plenty of great markets to explore in Paris. Good, easily transportable options are cheeses, flavoured oils and mustards, dried mushrooms, cured and potted meats and pâtés . If you're more about wowing your social media followers with mouth-watering foodie snaps, have a look at our pick of the most instagrammable boulangeries, and while you're there, pick up something tasty. Gourmets will find no shortage of good restaurants for eating out in Paris, with prices for every budget.
You'll never run out of amazing things to see in Paris, no matter how many times you visit.
Whether you just want to wander the streets soaking up the history and culture, visit the world-class museums or scare yourself silly in the winding underground passages of the Paris catacombs, early spring and summer are great times to go as queues are generally shorter and hotels have more availability.
Paris is probably slightly more expensive for shopping than London, depending on the exchange rate. However, with fewer high-street shops and more independent boutiques, you have a much better chance of finding something a bit different.
Vintage shops are great for finding unique items at bargain prices and French 'pharmacies' can be a treasure trove of high-quality skincare brands to discover.
