Travelling with your bike on Eurostar

Travelling with a bike?  Here are the options available to you.

Bikes on Trains
If you're heading off to some beautiful cycling spots, you'll want to take your own bike along for the ride. Here are three ways to do it.

1. Reserve a place for your bike on the train in advance

On our trains to London, Paris and Brussels, you can reserve a place for your bike on the train you're travelling on, if there's enough space. It costs just £30 one way and you'll need to quote your Eurostar reference or show your ticket. This charge is non-refundable but you can change your reservation if there isn't enough luggage space available.

Read on for booking details.

2. Use our registered baggage service

For fully assembled bikes or bike bags over 120cm at their longest, our registered baggage service operates between London and Paris and Brussels and you can book it on the day. Your bike might not travel on the same train as you, but we'll do everything we can to send it on the next available one, if there's space.

We can guarantee that your bike will be available to collect at your Eurostar destination station within 24 hours. It costs just €29 one way and you'll need to show your Eurostar ticket or booking reference when you register. The charge is non-refundable but, subject to availability, it may be exchangeable before your departure date.

You can simply turn up on the day and register your bike, or do it a few days before you travel, so it'll be ready to collect when you arrive.

If you can fold or dismantle your bike and place it in a bike bag between 85cm and 120cm at its longest, then you can use our turn-up-and-go registered luggage service for just £10 from London and 15€ from Paris or Brussels.

To make a reservation or find out more about our registered baggage service, call us on +44 (0) 844 822 5822 or visit the EuroDespatch Centre in person at St Pancras International.

3. Fold it up

Bike bags up to 85cm long
If you've got a folding bike, you might be able to carry it on board as part of our baggage allowance. That's as long as you can fold or dismantle your bike with the saddle, handlebars and wheels removed and place it in a suitable bike bag. Your bike bag can be up to 85cm at its longest.

Bike bags between 85cm and 120cm
For trains between London, Paris and Brussels, the £10/15€ registered baggage option above applies.

On our seasonal direct services to Avignon, Provence and the French Alps we don't have a registered luggage service. On these trains, bike bags between 85cm and 120cm at their longest can be carried on board as part of your individual luggage allowance.

Your bike has to be dismantled or folded in a suitable bike bag, with the saddle, handlebars and wheels removed.

If your bike can't be folded into the right size bag, you can reserve a place for it on the train or use our registered baggage service, as above.

Here's a summary of the options:

Parking your bike

You'll find bike parking at most of our stations, except Paris Gare du Nord and Lille Europe. You'll find all the necessary information on our station pages.

Onward connections

Most other connecting train operators accept bikes on board in bike bags of 90cm x 120cm.

If your bike bag is bigger than this or cannot be dismantled or folded, it's best to check with the operator in question before you make your booking.
