Resorts in the Swiss Alps

The slopes

This purpose built resort with ski-in-ski-out amenities was developed with convenience in mind and enables skiers to maximise their time on the slopes. It's also easier on the eye than many purpose built resorts in France. Avoriaz hosts both catered and self-catered accommodation, with the latter in abundance.

Up the mountain there is a great selection of runs, suited for beginner skiers to experts, with the majority of the terrain being ideal for intermediates. For those that like to push the boundaries, Avoriaz is a trail-blazer when it comes to terrain parks, with 5 impressively maintained parks on offer. With superb au pair and crèche services and the excellent facilities in the Village des Enfants Avoriaz is also a great choice for families.

Après-ski

The resort itself is traffic free and the buildings are varied, but most notably of the high rise variety. However due to the horse-drawn sleighs and snow-covered paths, Avoriaz still manages to convey a pleasant alpine experience. Recent developments include a new all-singing-all-dancing leisure centre – the smart new Aquariaz (a huge water park and swimming pool).

Although the choice of bars is modest, the après ski is lively with a good atmosphere. especially during happy hour.
