Quick, Tell Margaret... Eurostar's Only £59 Return To Brussels!

22 Jul 2005

Eurostar, the high-speed train operator that links the UK with France and Belgium, today pledged that it would be delighted to carry Environment Secretary Margaret Beckett on her next ministerial visit to Brussels and launched a 'Tell Margaret' campaign to ensure she is aware that Eurostar's London-Brussels fares start at £59 return.
Ms Beckett can enjoy the comfort of high-speed rail travel while avoiding the hassle of taking a short-haul flight. There will be no need for her to trek to an out-of-town airport with Eurostar's London terminal only a short walk from Westminster. Onboard Ms Beckett will be able to sit back and relax or prepare for her meetings using her laptop and mobile phone (both fully charged courtesy of Eurostar's at-seat power sockets) throughout the journey.
Should Ms Beckett have any free time after her meetings she could take advantage of Eurostar's any-Belgian-station ticketing policy to slot in a quick sight-seeing visit to any town or city in Belgium using her London-Brussels ticket which is valid for onward travel anywhere in Belgium at no extra cost.
Eurostar operates nine weekday services in each direction between London and the Belgian capital with a fastest journey time of 2 hours 15 minutes.
Paul Charles, Director of Communications, Eurostar, said: "Eurostar carries thousands of travellers between London and Brussels each day and we'd be delighted if Margaret Beckett could join them.
With fares starting from £59 return Eurostar is the most hassle-free option for travel between the two cities. So if you see Margaret, please don't forget to tell her!"
