It's red noses all around at Eurostar's Contact Centre, Ashford, Kent

8 Mar 2005

Eurostar's UK Contact Centre located at Ashford, in Kent, is gearing up as it does every year to raise as much money as possible for the BBC's Red Nose Day for Comic Relief on Friday 11 March.
Many of the Centre's 350 staff will be involved in raising money directly or taking 'phone pledges from the public. The Eurostar Contact Centre will start taking pledges at 18h30 on Friday and will remain open until 02h00 on Saturday 12 March - the same duration as BBC TV are live for Red Nose Day.
This year amongst the wacky schemes for making money will be a race from the Greenwich Observatory to the Eurostar Contact Centre in Ashford. Eurostar's Mike O'Callaghan (Big Mike) will be "nose to nose" with Sid Castle (Slick Sid) to race by public transport and bicycle respectively.
Setting off from Greenwich at 10h45, Big Mike will take to buses and domestic trains (taxis are not allowed!) and Slick Sid will take to the roads. With the aid of some cunning plans, they aim to make as much money as they can and of course, each of them wants to come first in the public transport vs bike challenge. The aim is to be in Ashford at 13h10!
Eurostar staff will also be taking part in other money raising schemes for Comic Relief such as the "Red Nose Sofa Raffle" and "Find the Rose Nose Around the World Treasure Hunt".
Commented Mike O'Callaghan, Head of Eurostar's Contact Centre: "Everyone on the team is so enthusiastic about this national fundraising event, it's hugely contagious, and the excitement just builds as the pounds roll in. We certainly hope to raise more money than last time and we're all going to have tremendous fun achieving this!"
