ODEON, the UK's biggest cinema operator, today announces a new promotion with Eurostar, the international high-speed passenger train operator, to celebrate the release of Joel Schumacher's long-awaited epic film, Phantom of the Opera.
ODEON and Eurostar have teamed up in a national promotion which enables ODEON customers to take a friend or partner on Eurostar to Paris for free, when purchasing two cinema tickets to see Phantom of the Opera (1) at an ODEON cinema. The majority of cinemas within the ODEON estate are taking part in the promotion.
The promotion starts on 10th of December 2004, the same day as the film goes on national release.
The film, starring Gerard Butler, Emmy Rossum, Simon Callow and Minnie Driver, is set to be a massive success and will appeal to devotees of Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals as well as fans of Joel Schumacher's films. Tipped to be one of the strongest releases of the year, this hugely theatrical and lavish film is based upon the classic French tale by Gaston Leroux.
Alice Wagner, ODEON Promotions Manager commented: 'This exclusive offer comes at a perfect time of year to escape the UK winter blues and travel on Eurostar to Paris with a friend who travels free. Theatre buffs will know that Paris is where the Phantom is set, with the principal location being the fabulously opulent Opera Garnier. ODEON customers will have a great incentive to go and see the film and get an amazing Eurostar offer into the bargain, so they too can experience Paris and the breathtaking locations of the film. ODEON is delighted to be working with Eurostar for the first time on this promotion.'
Eurostar's Director of Communications, Paul Charles, commented: "This stunning film is going to be a huge hit, both musically and visually. Lots of fans are going to want to travel to Paris with Eurostar to see the inspiration behind this wonderful movie."
A bespoke radio campaign will support the promotion and bespoke POS will be displayed in all participating ODEON cinemas across the estate.
(1) With two ODEON cinema tickets purchased for the film, the customer receives a Eurostar voucher with an exclusive password, this will then be valid to claim one free Eurostar ticket, when the customer buys one full price ticket.
