Courchevel

Loved by the jet set, it doesn’t have to cost a fortune. The most extensive and varied resort in the Trois Vallées, with plenty for everyone – and no need to look elsewhere. You’ll remember your holiday here for a long time.
Not to be missed
For a near-perfect woodland ski, start at the Col de la Loze and ski down to Le Praz or the newly developed resort of La Tania.
One for the train
There’s a mini-airport in the middle of the slopes at Courchevel 1850 – the highest of the four parts of the resort – that is used by the Paris jet set and, increasingly, wealthy Russians.
Off the piste
In a resort where mountain restaurants are noted for their prices – with one wine list including a bottle for £6,000 - the Bel Air at the top of the 1650 gondola has good food, friendly service and postcard views.
Top money tip
New Generation ski school offers great value for money – not just for children, but also for adults.
Best avoided
If you’re on a budget, head for Les Menuires.
