Recruitment process
Everything you need to know about applying for a career at Eurostar

How do I apply for a role?

Once you have found your dream role with Eurostar (U.K.) Ltd, you can apply straight away by completing an on-line application form; please bear in mind that you may also be asked to submit a copy of your CV. For on-line recruitment forms you will need to fill out your personal details, plus answer questions relating to your experience, skills and qualifications.

So what happens once I’ve pressed the ‘submit’ button?

You will automatically receive a notification email to tell you that we have received your application. The Recruitment Team will then compare your details with the requirements needed for your chosen role. At each stage of the process we will ensure that all applicants are treated fairly and in accordance with Eurostar’s equal opportunities policy.

When will I hear back about my application?

Throughout the recruitment process we will keep you updated via emails. If you are successful in making it to the assessment stage, we will give you plenty of notice and make sure that you receive all the information that you need to be fully prepared.

When will I hear back about my assessment/interview?

We aim to let each and every candidate know the outcome within five working days. We encourage all candidates who have completed an assessment to ask for feedback. If you haven’t heard from us within that time it may be because we are really busy, but that doesn’t mean we don’t want to hear from you; please do not hesitate to contact us and we will be more than happy to give you our comments.

How many assessment/interviews do I need to attend?

This depends on the role. For some roles, such as Customer Service Team Member you will only have one assessment day. However, for other roles you may have two or even three interviews/assessments. We will always give you sufficient notice and preparation time, so you won’t be taken by surprise!

What happens if I am successful?

This is the bit we love! A member of the recruitment team will contact you and talk you through the offer. We will, of course, give you time to think about your decision (although in our opinion it’s an easy one to make!). If you do accept the offer of employment, we will send out your Offer Letter as soon as possible. Your Offer Letter will explain everything that you need to do before you get a contract and a confirmed start date.

What do you need to do before starting at the company?

All candidates will need to successfully complete a medical and/or drug/alcohol screening. Also, all candidates need to prove eligibility to work in the UK and provide proof of address. We also need satisfactory references for one year and a character reference, plus all the other bits of paperwork signed and returned. It does take a bit of time, but the Recruitment Team will help you every step of the way! Once all the necessary documents are complete, you will be sent a Contract of Employment with a confirmed start date and a letter to give you dates, times and location of your first day.

What does the drug and alcohol screening involve?

The screening is a simple urine test which takes place at our medical provider. This will take approximately 45 minutes. If you join Eurostar in a safety critical role (e.g. Train Manager, Train Driver) you will be required to have a medical before you start and also will be randomly requested to attend for drug and alcohol screening throughout your employment.

Have your say

At any stage, if you don’t feel happy with the service that the Recruitment Team is providing, or if you would like to ask a question that isn’t answered by our Frequently Asked Questions page, or just to tell us how you think we’re doing, please feel free to contact us on recruitment.questions@eurostar.co.uk. We will get back to you within three working days.
