Meribel

Bang in the middle of the Three Valleys is one of the best and biggest interlinked sports arenas in the world. Meribel, with its excellent slope grooming and efficient snow-making on the lower runs is one of the most popular resorts for English-speaking skiers.

Méribel today has grown into a ski city that stretches up the mountain from Méribel Village
at 1400m to the top of Méribel Mottaret at 1800m.

A first-rate resort Meribel is in the middle of the Trois Vallées. If you can’t find somewhere to ski here, you might as well pack it in. Meribel offers little queuing, rapid slope access and pleasant accommodation. A holiday to remember – and no need for a phrasebook.

Not to be missed
Take a chair up to the Roc de Fer to test yourself on the women’s downhill
from the 1992 Olympics – especially when it’s just been groomed.

One for the train
This ski resort was founded by a Brit, Colonel Peter Lindsay, in 1938, and has retained
strong British personality ever since – "more like Kensington than France".

Off the piste
Happy hour at the piste-side Rond Point starts at 4pm. Live music and toffee vodka
also on the menu.

Top money tip
If you like off-piste skiing, don’t be tempted onto the national wildlife refuge
surrounding Mount Vallon where skiing is prohibited and the fines are heavy.

Best avoided
If you don’t want to be surrounded by Brits – and want good snow, all day long.
