In HR we work with managers across the company to ensure people issues are managed in the right way across employee relations, recruitment, organisational development, occupational safety and employee benefits.

 
We’re a cross between an engine room and a laboratory – we try to keep everything running smoothly, but at the same time we want to experiment on new ways to approach people matters – we like challenging the norm and being curious! We’ve done loads of work on performance management, we manage two major development programmes (Personal Excellence & Management Excellence) which help our people to work together more effectively and we’re also getting into succession planning.  
 

We’re constantly re-vamping our policies and processes, looking for better and more efficient ways to do things – the launch of this website is just one example!

 
We work hard to provide all of our employees, customers, visitors and contractors with environments that are safe. Recognising that every activity poses its own risks we aim to control these through our Safety Management Systems. Our health and safety performance is one of the best and it didn’t get that way by accident!
 
How would we describe the working environment? Well there’s always a buzz in the office, it’s extremely busy (people constantly drop in to see us with queries) but we also have fun!

If you want to work in HR at Eurostar what would you ‘look’ like?  Well you’ve got to have a ‘can-do’ mentality – when things get tough it’s no good giving up!  You must be a team-player and prepared to ‘get your hands dirty’ - we don’t want people who say “that’s not in my job description”.  Priorities are constantly changing, so you need to be a good juggler!
