Safety Assurance

The department is responsible for the development and maintenance of Safety Authorisations, Certificates and Safety Management Systems as required under the Railways and Other Guided Transport Systems (Safety) Regulations 2006, as well as providing senior management with assurance that safety standards within the company are being maintained.

Additionally the department manages the arrival of industry standards into the company and the publishing of company wide policies and procedures. 

The Head of Safety Assurance reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer and is responsible for the oversight of Safety Assurance and related issues and liaison with external bodies and industry safety groups including regulatory bodies, infrastructure controllers and RSSB.
