Security in the UK
The department manages the security of premises, staff, passengers and trains. It manages the relationship with the Security contractors in the UK and the various Government departments responsible for security issues such as the Home Office (Immigration and Customs) and Transec. It also manages the relationship with the British Transport Police and the interface with those responsible for security in France, Belgium and the Channel Tunnel. It provides training for all the security staff, and plans and co-ordinates emergency exercises. It manages the pass system for all Eurostar. It manages our data protection registrations.
Corporate Services
The department manages the premises owned or leased by the Company in the UK.
It manages the fixed cost maintenance of the terminals in the UK, and the procurement of central facilities contracts such as photocopying.
It manages the leasing of premises and advertising space to retailers and advertisers within the terminals.
Legal
The department provides the majority of the legal advice to the different departments within Eurostar. We use external lawyers for some work. We work in a fast paced and exciting environment. The matters dealt with in house vary greatly, some of the matters we are commonly involved in as part of the day to day running of Eurostar includes:
-assisting the procurement team with tender processes, for example we have just completed the tender process to award the contract for the cleaning of all our trains and the depot;
-drafting contracts, both high value contracts and small low value ones; -reviewing internal and external communications including advertising, marketing and all promotional activity;
-trademark matters; and
-general litigation.
In addition there are always a number of exciting projects going on, currently a lot of work is being done on High Speed 1 which will make a great difference to Eurostar.

The legal team is a small team, currently comprised of seven lawyers but we all work together.
