Derby to Paris, Brussels and the Continent by train
In Derby, Darley Abbey forms part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. By 1730 there were four separate water-powered mills then from around 1790, neat terraces of workers' houses were developed. Today, the historical significance of Darley Abbey lies in the continued existence of the principal elements of the late 18th to early 19th century factory village. That's a bit about Derby, but the best thing about Derby now, is that we have teamed up with several UK train operating companies so you can travel all the way to your continental destination paying just one price*.
There are lots of places to explore abroad... in Paris, cruise along la Seine in a relaxing sight-seeing boat or catch a glimpse of the Mona Lisa and other great works of art in Musée du Louvre. In Brussels, don't forget to see the amusing small bronze fountain sculpture, the Manneken Pis.
