La Tortue du Sablon is a famous homarium, or lobster house, right in the heart of Brussels. A nautical theme prevails with scrubbed wooden floors, the remains of huge shelled creatures on the walls and a ship's wheel hanging from the ceiling. Inside you'll find an intimate, smart, white table-cloth setting while the terrace in front has a jauntier, more informal feel. Wherever you sit, you can choose from nine different preparations of lobster including La Tortue's own grilled version and a warm edition Parisian Bellevue style. Fish dishes in general are a speciality, though meat-eaters are catered for; unusually, La Tortue has a strong tradition of game in season, with creations like six-spice duck with ginger sauce.

La Villette 10% off your food
Cuisine: Belgian

Metro: Sainte Catherine / Sint-Katelijne
Address: 3 Rue du Vieux Marché aux Grains, Brussels, 1000
La Villette restaurant, opposite lovely St Catherine Church, is as Belgian as can be. The charming old stucco-fronted building is overhung with awnings, while inside the quaint chequered table cloths, wood-panelled walls, country chairs, old framed advertising and chalkboard menu of specials make this a landmark of postcard Belgian-ness. Yes, you will find tourists here, but also savvy locals who understand that La Villette boasts a more imaginative menu, especially of la cuisine à la bière, than most St Catherine establishments. Its forty-strong carte of beers is a powerful incentive, too. Try the starter of hot brochette of small Belgian sausages served with two jams, Belgian endive and onion, and the main course of seasonal mussels with escargot sauce, or Flemish beef stew with Maredsous beer. Then on to dessert of crème brûlée 'the Chimay's way', unlike any you've tried before.
Tour D'y Voir10% off your food
Plus a free glass of champagne
Cuisine: European, Northern European
Price: Under £45 / €51
Metro: Gare Bruxelles-Centrale / Station Brussel-Centraal
Address: 8-9 Place du Grand Sablon, Brussels, 1000
Tour d'y Voir, set on the first floor of Les Vieux Sablons gallery in aristocratic Grand Sablon, is an adventure in dining. The restaurant is the result of the passion of Pascal and Tania Anciaux who have transformed the space into a vaulted 14 century chapel-like space with a louche, baroque reception area. Starters might include homemade foie gras terrine with onion marmalade and brioche toast, a main course of fillet of gold bream with fondue of tomatoes and basil, and dessert of crème brûlée with bourbon ice cream.
