More about Amsterdam...
With more canals than Venice, Amsterdam in the Netherlands is a city of surreal contrasts. Old Masters and Van Goghs vie with erotica; cosy eetcafés compete with designer bars; and gabled 17th-century palaces sit calmly amid a maelstrom of cyclists. Trawl the markets, take a trip around the Canal Ring, and explore the alleyways of funky boutiques in Jordaan. Then finish the day with a beer overlooking a barge-filled canal.

With one simple change in Brussels you could be exploring Amsterdam before you know it. For out and out speed, pick Amsterdam as your destination and enjoy a high-speed Thalys connection from Brussels-Midi/Zuid all the way there from £99 return.

Current journey time
The typical journey time of around five hours from London allows time for your connection in Brussels, but this is intended as a guide only. In 2009, the high-speed line from Brussels to Amsterdam was completed which means if you book trains that happen to connect very well, you could be there in little over four hours. We'll give you more precise times when you book your ticket.

Why travel Eurostar?
