Easter city break 2011 travel deals

Escape the British Easter Bunny this year and enjoy a continental Easter in Paris, Brussels or Lille.
Easter is a two day holiday in France and Belgium, covering Easter Sunday and Easter Monday. But when you’re travelling from the UK you can make the most of this moveable feast and use Good Friday for your trip too.
What's open?
While most businesses, museums, and monuments in Paris, Brussels and Lille keep their regular hours over the Easter weekend, some close for part or all of the Easter holiday. Find out which museums and monuments are open in Paris, Brussels and Lille over Easter.
Stunning churches
In all three cities you’ll find various Easter Church services you can attend as you take in the sights. In Paris there's the famous Sacre-Coeur and Notre-Dame, while in Brussels you'll find the fifth largest church in the world in the city's Basilique National du Sacre-Coeur. In Lille meanwhile, don't miss the Notre-Dame de la Treille Cathedral; with its white marble exterior and surprisingly orange-pink interior, it’s almost like being inside an egg. Speaking of which…

Easter egg hunts
For a fantastic Easter egg hunt The Chateau Vaux Le Vicomte is an ideal spot for the whole family. Located just outside Paris, it holds Easter egg hunts throughout Easter Sunday and Easter Monday, and also offers free workshops in chocolate making, origami, face painting and more. Another option is Paris' Galeries Lafayette's Big Easter Hunt where your little Easter bunnies have one hour to scour the store for every last shiny wrapped egg and delicious chocolate bean before the Grande Chase aux Oeufs is over.
In Brussels Easter Sunday sees egg hunts in Bruparck next to the Atomium and, just outside the city, in Les Pays des Castors, an animal park dedicated to beavers. Remember to bring your boots if you want to hunt for eggs among these dentally endowed dam builders.
Delicious chocolates
In Belgium it's sometimes said that the Bells of Rome bring the Easter Eggs. The story goes that the bells of every church leave for Rome on "Silent Saturday" or "Stille Zaterdag" in Dutch, before returning on Sunday with eggs... chocolate eggs hopefully. And what better place to find delicious chocolate eggs than the home to so many chocolate shops, Brussels?
If chocolate's not your thing though how about visiting one of the biggest markets in France? Head to the Wazemmes market in Lille for a different kind of Easter gift, like exotic food, flowers or fabrics.
If you need a convenient hotel, we have a great selection of Brussels-Midi hotels or Paris Gare du Nord hotels.
