Christmas market breaks 2012 to Lille, Bruges or Brussels
Take yourself off for a unique shopping experience to the Christmas markets of France and Belgium. Lille
As Christmas approaches, for over a month, Lille is adorned with twinkling lights and bright colours. On the Grand'Place and on Place Rihour you can find:
- around 80 market "chalets" open every day with original present ideas
- trips on the Ferris wheel where the whole town can be seen from the top
- entertainment for children in the shape of theatre and games
- chance to sample traditional French Christmas delicacies
- photos taken with Father Christmas
Brussels
The famed Plaisirs d'Hiver or "winter pleasures" Christmas market is probably one of the most original in Europe. Young and old can take the time to ramble throughout the Bourse area, the Marché aux Poissons ("fish market") and place Sainte-Catherine in Brussels.

- Around 200 "chalets" and stalls
- Two ice skating rinks, one for beginners and a 60m rink for more experienced skaters.

Bruges
The Christmas market held on Market Square is full of colourful lights illuminating festive stalls crammed with Christmas goodies. At the market you can find:
- around 30 traditional stalls selling gifts, speciality foods, chocolates, sweets and unusual hand-made decorations
- an open-air ice rink
- a Christmas Hobby and Toy Fair
On the way to Market Square, there are also further market stalls in a smaller square. The markets are open from 25 November until 31 December.
