Eurostar gets set for Easter get away
--155,000 travellers take Eurostar for Easter
--Five extra Eurostar services
Eurostar, the high-speed passenger train service that links the UK, France and Belgium, is gearing up for a bumper Easter with five additional trains – offering another 3750 seats or the equivalent of nine Boeing 747s – for travellers wanting to make the most of the Easter break.
Over 155,000 travellers will use Eurostar services over Easter. The extra Eurostar services are:
Maundy Thursday 5 April
Waterloo International to Paris Gare du Nord: extra trains at 16.42 and 20.10 arriving at 20.23 and 23.47 respectively.
Easter Monday 9 April
Paris Gare du Nord to Waterloo International: extra train at 12.19 arriving 13.56.
Waterloo International to Paris Gare du Nord: extra train at 14.41 arriving 18.20.
Brussels Midi to Waterloo International: extra train at 14.59 arriving 16.23.
Travelling in comfort from city centre to city centre, avoiding long airport check-in queues and delays is proving a better choice for many this Easter weekend.
Eurostar’s Director of Communications, Simon Montague, said: "More and more people are switching from the airlines and choosing Eurostar to go to Paris, Brussels, Lille and Disneyland Resort Paris as they realise how easy and what good value it is."
Eurostar urges last-minute travellers to book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
Editor’s Notes:
1. Eurostar is the high-speed train service linking London, Ashford, Paris, Brussels, Lille, Avignon, Calais, Disneyland Resort Paris and the French Alps.
2. From 14 November 2007, Eurostar will begin services from St Pancras International and run its trains on the UK’s first high-speed line, known as High Speed 1, from London to the Channel Tunnel. Journey times will be reduced considerably. London-Paris will be 2hrs 15mins, London-Brussels will be 1hr 51mins and London-Lille 1hr 20mins.
3. Eurostar will also launch services from Ebbsfleet International, a new UK station near junction 2 of the M25 motorway, to Paris and Brussels.
4. Independent research has shown that a Eurostar journey between London and Paris / Brussels generates ten times less carbon dioxide than flying.
5. Eurostar has been named “World’s Leading Rail Service” at the World Travel Awards every year since 1998.
6. Eurostar and Eurotunnel are two entirely different companies with two different management teams. Eurostar is Eurotunnel’s largest customer.
7. To book tickets for Eurostar or to find out more information, go to www.eurostar.com , call 08705 186186, or contact your travel agent.
