Eurostar, the high-speed passenger train service linking the UK with France and Belgium, opens ticket sales for its direct ski trains to the French Alps today (4th July). Bookings can either be made online at www.eurostar.com or by calling 08705 186 186.

Eurostar’s hugely popular services direct to the heart of the French Alps offer access to a wide range of top ski resorts such as Courchevel, Meribel, Tignes, Les Arcs and Val d’Isere, allowing skiers of every level to visit destinations tailored to their needs.

Eurostar provides two direct ski trains a week, stopping at Moutiers, Aime la Plagne and Bourg St Maurice. Travellers can opt for the overnight service which departs on Friday night, arriving early Saturday morning and giving an extra two days on the slopes. Alternatively the scenic day service popular with families passes through the beautiful Burgundy region and on to the Alps, departing from London Waterloo on Saturday morning and arriving at Bourg St Maurice early evening.

The railway stations are located high in the Alps, meaning a short bus ride to the resorts, and avoiding the lengthy coach transfers experienced when flying.

Standard class returns start from just £179, or skiers can indulge themselves travelling Leisure Select from £269, benefiting from roomier accommodation and meals and drinks served at seat.

There are alternative ways of getting to the French ski resorts by rail via Eurostar Connections, travelling by Eurostar to either Paris or Lille and connecting with TGV or other domestic rail services. This is a good option for travellers wishing to depart on other days of the week.
