From Tuesday 15 February to Saturday 5 March 2005
Set between London - Paris and on Eurostar
Eurostar is supporting “Playing Away” a new play by Chris Sykes and directed by Thierry Harcourt which opens at the Lilian Baylis Theatre, Sadlers Wells and runs from 15 February until 5 March 2005.
This exciting new production stars Rebecca Thornhill, Philippe de Grossouvre and Trevor Sellers and is presented by Doodah Theatre.
It features Elisabeth Doubleday a very successful estate agent with offices in London and Paris. But things are not that straightforward she leads a double life. Monday to Wednesday the English half, Libby (Elisabeth) lives in London with Roger Rodgers, a perfect English gentleman. Thursday to Sunday she is Lisette and lives in Paris with Pierre Lapin a gorgeous chauvinistic Frenchman. For Elisabeth life is perfect as she speeds between her two lovers on Eurostar. But can she keep all her balls in the air? Can this go on indefinitely? What would happen if the two men accidentally met?
Eurostar’s Director of Communications, Paul Charles, commented: “There’s never been a better time to play away than by Eurostar. I’m sure the play will strike a chord with the audience and touch upon what our passengers experience when going to and from Paris in the fastest way. It aptly demonstrates what so many people are now doing, either regularly commuting on Eurostar or indeed living in, or near, one capital and working in another. Not many, I’m sure, would find themselves embroiled in Elisabeth Doubleday’s complicated situation!”.
