Eurostar lands prestigious environmental award

Eurostar, the high-speed rail operator linking London with France and Belgium, has scooped a major award in recognition of a recycling initiative launched at its Waterloo International terminal.

The paper recycling scheme - operated in partnership with Network Recycling - won the Commercial Waste Management Initiative award at the inaugural letsrecycle.com Awards for Excellence.

The scheme recycles paper from Eurostar’s ticket office, departure lounge and onboard the trains.

Eurostar beat off stiff competition from HSBC and Viridor Glass Recycling to win the award, which was presented at a ceremony at London’s Savoy Hotel.

Scott Noble, Occupational Safety Manager, Eurostar, said: "We are delighted to win this award. The recycling initiative is a key part of Eurostar’s environmental management system which was introduced to provide a united company-wide approach to all environmental issues."
