Offsetting
Since 14 November 2007, all our journeys have been carbon neutral at no extra cost to our travellers. Whatever CO2 emissions from our journeys we haven’t been able to reduce ourselves, we offset by investing in specially chosen projects from around the world. These projects have delivered carbon credits equivalent to the amount of CO2e we needed to balance out our own emissions from commercial Eurostar journeys.
We believe that offsetting can form a positive part of a much wider plan, but we know it isn’t the ultimate answer. Our main commitment is to reduce our emissions per traveller journey.
We have looked carefully at the projects we have chosen to support and have decided to only purchase those credits where the emissions reductions have been verified as having already been achieved. This means you can be confident that by the time you travel with us, your journey is already carbon neutral.
