Faster Journey Times

  • Eurostar trains have the capacity to operate at a maximum speed of 300 km per hour or 186 miles per hour on High Speed 1 and the high-speed lines in Belgium and France.
  • On 30 July 2003, Eurostar broke the UK rail speed record with a test train reaching 334.7 km per hour or 208.0 miles per hour on the new UK high-speed line.
  • On November 14th 2007, Eurostar launched services from its new London station at St Pancras International, with the completion of the second section of the UK's first high-speed line, High Speed 1. Fastest journey times have fallen with London-Brussels taking 1 hour 51 minutes, London-Lille 1 hour 20 minutes and London-Paris just 2 hour 15 minutes.
